Before I ask this question, I just want to say I love your blog! I’m interested in starting one soon. I’m graduating in December and I’m having a hard time finding a graduation dress. Any suggestions?
Congrats boo! You definitely should. I may write about all of the reasons why having a blog is beneficial, but until then let’s focus on you looking bomb on graduation day. My robe was red, so I wore a red dress underneath it. December is chilly so long-sleeve is always good + I like a dress that can go from ceremony to celebrate real quick. You can never go wrong with neutrals though. Here are my picks –
You have the best skin! Please share your products and routine
My routine is pretty simple and has been the same for about two years now. I use all Oil of Olay Regenerist products, because it’s never too soon to start the anti-aging process right? My Aunt Octavia who’s in her 80’s, my older cousin and my boss have all used Oil of Olay for years and look waaaaay younger than you’d guess. I use the Detoxifying Pore Scrub as a cleanser, along with this microsculpting moisturizer in the mornings because it has SPF in it. In the evening I use these make-up wipes, this toner and this healing moisturizer. I buy all of them off of Amazon because it’s always cheaper than in-store. If for whatever reason I have a pimple pop-up, I use this Burt’s Bees Blemish Stick on it and it disappears in 24 hours. I do have a Clarisonic on my Christmas list though!
I recently started blogging and my goal was to make money but instead, I’m spending tons buying stuff to take photos in order to make sure I have content to post. I feel like I’m peddling backwards. How do you juggle that?
Before I had this blog I was already a big shopper, so I’m almost ashamed to admit that hasn’t changed. I have SO much stuff in my closet because I try to buy quality over quantity type pieces and stay away from anything too trendy. If I am buying something affordable, it’s typically basic pieces that I’ll get a few seasons out of. A lot of the stuff I shoot I’ve had for years because buying a new outfit for every single photo just isn’t realistic. I’ll happily spend $100 at Forever21, ASOS, Nordstrom of course, but I try to make sure it’s something I can wear to work, out and on camera.
Outside of the B Werd, what would you say your biggest personal and professional accomplishment has been for 2016?
Personally, I’d have to say I really allowed things to flow this year. I did so much better at not worrying about things that I can’t control, and controlling the things that I can. That led me to pushing my limits in so many areas and also letting things around me take their our course. Professionally, I’ve owned my own projects this year. Accountability means a lot to me. When I first transitioned into my PR role, I was helping my boss plan all of our events. She quickly gave me the opportunity to take the lead with them, along with putting me in the position to work directly with our VP’s on other client relations projects which is a big deal. I don’t know another 26 year old female who’s emailing her CEO directly to run things by them, so that’s been pretty cool. But of course now I’m like… “what’s next?” lol. I’m ready!
You mentioned in a post that you had major plans for your Christmas holiday. Are you vacationing or working on something special?
My company gives us about two weeks off of work for the holidays so I plan on doing a ton of blog work, including a workbook that will help a lot of you build on the ideas that you have, some dope merchandise and hopefully some amazing partnership opportunities.
You did a post in the prettiest khaki trench. Can you please tell me where you got it?
That trench is my faaaavorite. It’s made by Topshop and I found it at last year’s Nordstrom anniversary sale and unfortunately can’t find it online. But here are some other really good picks –
I planned a cruise for my best friends bachelorette party in February that will be making three different stops in Mexico. Any outfit, swimsuit or cover up ideas?
Mexico is my favorite place to visit! There’s nothing like the sun there. I picked a little bit of everything; swimsuits to daytime to dinner. Have fun!
I loved the Secret Santa Gift Guide you posted, it was so helpful! Can you do one similar but with gift ideas for a boyfriend?
I certainly will. In the meantime, check out Nordstrom’s gift guide for Him for under $50.
Thank you guys for all of the questions! As always, you can leave your question below or email them to me at info@thebwerd.com with #coffeetalk in the subject.
Great coffee talk Courtney! I’m really excited for what’s next for the Bwerd. I will definitely be purchasing some of the merchandise to support my fave blog. Your content is great and constantly evolving – you are inspiring so many to create platforms to speak their mind. 🙂
and emailing the CEO?! I see you pulling that seat up to the table girl! Get ’em.
