I am moving from DC to LA and want to revamp my wardrobe. I’ve already purged so many things that I won’t need to take to the west coast. But I want to step my outfit game up and take it to the next level. What are some staple items that you suggest? I also work in the entertainment industry so my work attire is super casual.
Two of my favorite cities! The best thing about L.A. is that anything goes when it comes to outfits, sneakers and dresses, high heels and shorts, you name it. If I had to do a 10-item wardrobe it would without a doubt consist of a good quality pair of light and dark denim, a denim or leather jacket, a satin button down, a black pencil skirt, a pair of leather-like pants, a graphic-tee, basic tanks, a pair of vans to run around in and a pair of simple barely there heels. All of those items can mix-matched and be worn casually or dressed up entirely.
Which do you prefer out of square space and word press for hosting a beginners blog?
I prefer WordPress without a doubt because it allows so many customizeable features through plug-ins. I have seen several web pages created through Square Space that I liked the design of, but if you’re going to pay any amount of money to create a website I’d definitely use WordPress.
What kind of camera do you use? Your pictures are amazing!
Thank you! I use a Canon T5i to take photos for the blog specifically, but the majority of my Instagram photos are taken on my iPhone 7+. Make sure your lighting is good, clean the front of your camera lens off with a t-shirt or tissue and snap your photo. Don’t forget to use the iPhone editing tools to brighten your photos, make them warmer, make colors pop, remove shadows, etc. Snapseed is also a great editing app.
I’m in desperate need of a good pair of destroyed denim shorts. Can you help please? I’m petite similar to you.
I sure can. I love a good pair of cut-offs because they pair well with pretty much anything… swimsuit tops, bodysuits and tee’s. Here are my picks –
I believe you once stated on your blog that, “A lesson that is not learned is a lesson that will be repeated.” Can you list examples of lessons that you learned and what you discovered?
Oh man, so many to name. This lesson for me especially came from lessons in love. I had swallow a tough pill and recognize that what we allow, we accept. By tolerating behavior you know you don’t deserve, you then set the tone that you’ll accept that type of treatment whether or not you agree with it. I truly do believe that God will continue to give you the same test over and over until you learn the necessary lesson from it. Whatever you are continually struggling with is meant to teach you something, and until you conquer the lesson by reacting to it differently you will continue to experience it. I changed what I was willing to accept and that changed my life.
I was able to tune into your first Instagram Live and loved every single thing you had to say. You left me so motivated! Please tell me you’ll be doing those more often.
I’m actually thinking of addressing a chosen topic every week since my first IG Live went over so well. Thank you to all of you who tuned in! Next time around, I’ll give you all more notice that way you can plan to join me earlier.
I don’t have a business, but I do have a blog that I would love your help with! I’ve sat on the idea for so long because I truly don’t know where to begin. Do you plan to offer blogging help anytime soon? I’m sure I’m not the only one who is dying for it!
I am strategically trying to map out the best way to help everyone with the most common concerns. The biggest one for me was branding help, in which I created the Brand Beginnings Werkbook. That went over so, so well that my mind was blown. I began working with a client only three weeks ago and went through her Brand Beginnings Werkbook with her. This week she had a completed website, inventory and was able to launch her online shop. I knew I was effective, but now that I’m sure my method works it’s a pretty amazing feeling. If you have an idea, brand, business or blog you’re trying to bring to life I seriously advise you to complete that werkbook. It will map out so many areas you would’ve missed on your own… I know because I didn’t have it to guide me.
I’m now in the process of creating a Blogging Werkbook that will not only have your entire blog set up, but will provide you with a content calendar, hashtag usage and ways to market your blog so it continues to grow once you create it. For people who already have businesses or blogs up + running but still feed they need a little direction, I’m now offering $50 brand audits and $150 brand audit consultations + branding plans. Needless to say, I’d be happy to help you and as you can see I’ve got my hands full helping many others LOL. Send me an email if you have any questions!
Thank you all for the questions! If I didn’t get to them this week I will next week for sure. I am beyond ready for this holiday weekend because I need it to work! LOL send all questions to me via email or comment then down below. Have a great weekend!
