I am going to Hawaii with my boyfriend and his family to celebrate his Mom’s 60th birthday (I loved your travel guide on Hawaii, we will be traveling to the same island), and I am searching for some cute bathing suit options to wear. I don’t want to be too revealing because we will be with his parents, but I still want to have cute and fashionable options. Do you have any suggestions for bathing suit options?
Hawaii is amazingggg, you will love it! I completely understand what you mean. I’m still adjusting to what “appropriate” means LOL. Here are some options I think will make all of you comfortable –
Why didn’t you pledge Greek in college? I didn’t either, but I always wonder why other beautiful women of influence chose not to.
If I’m being honest, I had very little interest in ever joining a sorority. It may have crossed my mind maaaaaybe two times in life. I’m not the type of person who ever felt the need to be included or be apart. I was always just fine by myself. I have a sister, which exceeded what I ever wanted as far as sisterhood went, so I never felt that void that many women do in regards to wanting to feel close to other women. The more I come to know about what all the pledging process entailed, I personally felt it wasn’t a journey for me in particular. Knowing my attitude, I wouldn’t have made it too far LOL. I have several friends who decided to and they can easily tell you how much they love being apart a sorority, so I guess it boiled down to my personal character.
My husband and I are considering moving from LA to Houston with our two little ones. What would you say are the pros and cons of H-Town?
I’m a Houston native so my opinion may be biased, but there’s no where else in the U.S. that I’d want to raise a family. Houston is such a huge city, it has everything you could possibly need – grocery stores, shopping malls, amazing schools, you name it. A lot of people may view the city being this big as a con, but I personally think it’s a pro. Whatever side of town I decide to live on, I likely don’t have to leave it to do whatever it is that I need to do. I love that it’s a huge business city with a ton of money circulating, but not superficial like a lot of other cities. We have it all!
I’m really trying to get back into my workout routine before the summer gets here and it’s too late but I need some inspiration… AKA new gym clothes. Can you please link your favorites for us?
Workout clothes don’t have to cost a ton, but they do have to be cute. Once I start seeing progress, I wear them just for fun LOL. Here are some I’m loving –
I’m about to graduate law school in a week and enter into the professional realm. I realize perception will be important as I meet new people. I’ve always had difficulty in the grooming department in regards to dress style, hair maintenance and fitness. What advice do you have for a young female in discovering their dress style, hair maintenance due to working out and committing to a fitness routine?
I have go-to looks and hair styles that don’t need much switching up during the work week. A high or low sleek bun is likely how you’ll find my hair Monday through Friday. It’s easy maintenance and still allows me to get my workouts in. I rotate wrap dresses, ankle pants with blazers and cardigans also. Find inspiration on Instagram or Pinterest for looks you love and then recreate them!
What would you both say is the most difficult part of blogging?
The time it takes to be one. There are no off days, if you want to be successful at least. Literally right now, I’m sitting on the balcony of my hotel room answering these #CoffeeTalk questions because this is something that keeps my blog alive. It can also get pricey always having to have new shoes and clothes to photograph in and the pictures you have to take can easily become exhausting. But just like any other job, you’ll make sure that it gets done if it’s important to you!
My boyfriend is graduating from law school at the end of May and I have no idea what to wear to the ceremony. It’s in Dallas so its going to be hot but, the ceremony will also be at night. Help!
I think a nice jumpsuit would be a great option, since it’s at night especially and you all may be heading to dinner or a night out afterwards. You could also wear a nice blazer with denim too! I included some maxi dress options that can be worn with sandals as well just in case the jumpsuits feel too dressy for you. Here are some options –
I know that you love traveling and I do too. I’m dating this guy and want to plan a short getaway with him. Because let’s face it, if he isn’t a good travel partner, this won’t work! You have any suggestions? We’ve been dating for about 5 months, so a weekend trip would be great.
I completely agree! I think the first trip I booked with Nate was about a week after we became official for a trip that was three months later. I remember thinking “you may not even make it that far” LOL! I’m not sure where you live, but if you’re here in Texas a trip to somewhere like Austin or Lake Travis could be really fun and also not too far. Wine Country also has some really unique getaway packages if you’re feeling fancy. If you’re wanting to fly somewhere, Mexico! From Houston, it’s quick flight and is easily my favorite paradise. Playa Del Carmen is great for first time visitors. If you want to stay within the states, try a city you’re familiar with. A trip to Miami or LA is always a good idea. And a few days is perfect because we know that they both get pricey! LOL you and your boo have fun.
I’m creating a blog and want to know if I should tie it with my current Instagram page, or if I should start all new. Maybe keep my personal Instagram for family/friends and my blog Instagram for my like minded followers. My blog will be health and wellness, so it will include my personal lifestyle and choices as well.
I get this question a lot and I almost always lean towards starting with where you’re at on your own Instagram page. 1) You already have followers there who likely already know who you are and what you like. 2) They follow you because they like what you post. If you insist on creating a separate page, I would use your current page to lead people who would be interested in those specific topics to it. It’s a LOT of work to maintain two Instagram pages and can easily lead you to falling off track if you feel like it’s overwhelming – and we don’t want that! Just get specific on your current page and keep it consistent.
How do you handle stress from other people? If someone contacts you expecting things to be done quickly and on their time, but without regard to yours. What’s the best way to handle that situation without damaging the relationship?
I started to experience this within my own business and brand pretty early on and would always end up hurting myself by making other people a priority. I’d be up way past my bedtime trying to complete things for other people because they were expecting it. I had to end that and begin to create my stern boundaries for myself. Limits are a good thing. We all want to do a good job and be of service to others, but not at my own expense. Tell people no. It’s necessary for your sanity. We have to train people to be respectful of our time. You can find balance in a kind way but saying “I’m sorry, I won’t be able to get to that until Friday, I hope that works for you!”
I’m sorry I had to get this up a day late but this vacation is getting the best of me. Leave questions for the next #CoffeeTalk below or shoot em over via email!
