I know you try and eat clean the majority of the time so I have to ask… What do you order from Starbucks? Those drinks can easily be 300 calories and I can’t find a way to make them “healthier”.
Well…. the coffee itself is perfectly healthy. It’s all the additions like sugar, milk or cream, flavored syrups, whip cream and everything else that make it stick right to your belly. I try and keep it as simple as possible. I don’t order any specialty drinks. I’ll build my coffee from the ground up. If I want cold, I’ll get an iced coffee with almond milk and sugar free vanilla to make it sweet enough. If I want warm, I’ll get an Americano with sugar free vanilla, or one packet of Stevia and almond milk. My options definitely taste more like coffee, but I don’t feel guilty drinking them and they’re still tasty, to me.
I have an all white event I have to attend in June. It’s an all white beach fete, any suggestions on white outfits would be helpful.
That sounds like SO much fun! I kept the options “beachy” but did give you options between outfits and swimsuits. Have the best time!
What’s your current skin routine?
I feel like this deserves a post of its own, but to be short and sweet LOL, I use a few different products, both morning and evening. In the mornings, I’ll wash + rinse with this LaRoche facial cleanser, apply my prescribed skin cream, then put on this LaRoche SPF moisturizer before applying makeup. In the evenings, I remove my makeup with Dermalogica’s pre-cleanse oil cleanser, before washing with this. Every other night I’ll use this Dermalogica microfoliant, even though it’s gentle enough to be used daily. Once my face is washed and cleaned, I’ll put on a pea-size of Differen Gel, to help with skin texture, then moisturize with either Drunk Elephant’s Marula Oil mixed with their Glycolic Night Serum, or a few drops of Beneath Your Mask’s serum. All that and I have to say, one thing that makes a dramatic different in the clarity and texture of my skin…. is APPLE CIDER VINEGAR. I notice a significant difference when I don’t take it, and experienced the clearest skin of my life when I took a shot twice a day.
My fiance and I are heading to Tulum to celebrate our recent engagement and I’m going to be honest, I want some Instagram worthy outfits! I see you’ve been before. Please give me a few ideas on what to pack.
Tulum is a fun little hippy Mexican town. Lots of vegan food, bike riding and whatever else hippies like LOL. It’s the perfect place to wear bright items and colorful sets.
How did you get started in your corporate career?
Long story short: I applied, interviewed and got hired. LOL. I had graduated from college that December and had convinced myself it was going to take months, maybe even a year to get a job since some of my colleagues had experienced that. So I went on an applying spree and got a call from my current company in January. I went into the interview considering it practice for the long job-searching journey I was planning to be on, and ended up getting the job, starting in February. I wouldn’t say I was overly qualified, or even prepared. It was just meant to be. I’ve been there ever since, and made 5 years this past February.
How do you deal with loss of friendships?
Something about my personality has made it very easy for me to deal with loss. I realize that may not be the majority, but I’m grateful for that characteristic. I’ve lost a handful of friends over the years for different reasons. Many of them I simply outgrew, a few I’ve fallen out with, but at the end of it all, I’ve always been OK with it. I consider myself a good friend (I could be wrong), so when any of my friendships fall apart I always reflect by asking if I could’ve done anything different. Friendships in general have taught me that people are just people. They’re human. They’re flawed and they’re trying to figure things out as they work their ways through life. If things they say or do don’t sit well with my soul, they’re likely not my people or meant to remain in my life for the long haul. I’m a firm believer of speaking up. If there’s something you want to address or discuss with someone you consider a friend, give yourself the opportunity to do so. It’s not for them, it’s for you. That way, if the friendship does end, you know you did your part.
What would you wear to attend a work conference? I have a 3-day one next month that I’m trying to prepare for.
I love conferences! Don’t ask why, but they make me feel like a fancy professional and give me a break outside of my unglamorous office life. I’d go for a different style each day. One day, a shift dress with a blazer. The next a pencil skirt with cardigan. The last day, ankle pants with a cute blouse and maybe throw the blazer from day 1 over that? Don’t forget a neutral colored pump you can wear for 8+ hours a day!
I’m ready to embark on a healthier relationship with food. Have you ever done a cleanse?
I’ve never done a cleanse and I personally don’t think they’re necessary. A cleanse to me seems more like torture than it does as an introduction to clean eating and I don’t really understand the purpose of one. The point of clean eating in my life is to get the right amount of the right nutrients on a daily basis. Not necessarily cut my calories back immensely or skip meals intentionally. The best advice I have on gaining a healthier relationship with food is to choose whole food. Lean proteins, fresh fruits and veggies and whole grain complex carb options. Start reading food labels and avoid prepackage food items high in sugar and sodium. Posts like this one and this one are great for beginners!
Your lashes and eyebrows are ALWAYS on point! Please share what you use with us.
Thank you so much! I’ve been using the same products on my brows for yeaaaars! I’ll link them below. As far as my favorite mascara’s… I use a drug store mascara on a daily basis because it’s too pricey to run through at that rate. I buy two big brand mascaras and will share those as well!
I work for a magazine and the dress is pretty business casual, but I still want to look cute. Looking for some midi length dresses to wear to the office. Nothing too low cut and they do not have to be formal or ‘business’ like, but also not super casual. Any recommendations?
That’s my ideal type of environment, if I’m being honest. Here are a few options that can be dressed up or down –
