I’ve followed you on social media for quite a while so I know before your big chop you had super long hair. How did you get it to grow so quickly?! Every time you chop a few inches, it’s right back down your back. #QuestionsThatNeedAnswers
My hair has always grown really quickly so other than my daily multivitamin I don’t take anything for it. Mexicans are naturally hairy LOL! My sister has a Halle Berry cut but was taking Biotin and was able to grow a bob in less than two months.
I work in a corporate building and try to wear heels daily to keep up, but with all the walking I do they’re not always the most comfortable. What’s your stylish opinion on flats in the workplace?
I wear heels to work almost daily, but some days they just don’t make the cut. I’m all for a stylish ballet flat or loafer. They don’t make you any less professional. I’m really hard on flats and will scrape the suede or leather off the back of any pair I own so I don’t like buy any that are too expensive for everyday use. I have a handful of pricey flats that I use for casual Friday’s or events where I’ll be doing a lot of walking. I typically tend to lean towards neutrals and patterns. Here are a few options I’d incorporate into my wardrobe –
What’s one fashion trend right now you hate? Ok maybe not hate, but can’t seem to join in on.
I don’t really like “trends” at all for the most part, they come and go too quickly. However, there are a few things I’ve been open to trying and just couldn’t get myself to love. The first being chokers. I got gifted this one recently so I gave it a chance and thought it meshed well with my outfit. I’ve been wanting to try cute booties with the thick wooden heel like these and these, but couldn’t get myself to feel cute in them. I dislike wedges unless they make me five inches taller and I’m within 100 yards of a beach. Lastly, I hate men in turtlenecks. I know no one asked that but hey… my blog 🙂
I love your sneaker style but don’t own a single pair. For a newbie, what pairs do you suggest?
I like clean light weight sneakers that can be worn with joggers, tights, and a dress if that’s how I’m feeling that day. I’m on my second pair of Stan Smith’s because I love them that much. I’ve really been wanting a pair of solid suede Puma’s in this color and I’m planning on buying myself a pair of Balenciaga runners before the years up. Any of these would be a great addition for a first timer –
You are a great writer. I wish to be a better writer, but find it challenging. You are in PR and I too have a BA in journalism and I am almost done with my Masters in Communications. Can you please give some tips on how to become a better writer? Or share about how you became such a good writer?
Thank you for your compliment! In all honesty, I write how I speak so I would suggest speaking more frequently out loud even if you’re the only person in the room. Practicing my speech in the mirror helped me immensely with public speaking, which transfers over to when I write. I read a lot, several days a week. It expands your vocabulary but also gets you comfortable with the fluidity of writing. Practice, practice, practice. Read it out loud and if you don’t like the way it sounds, change it. It will soon become second nature for you!
I see that your blog is fairly new within the last year, what outlets do you promote your blog?
Instagram and Facebook are really the only platforms where I talk about The B Werd outside of this site. When I have new posts or something inspirational to say, I’ll get on those social media outlets. Granted I post almost daily, so people are constantly reminded LOL. Other than that, I haven’t done much promoting at all. It may sound strange but I’ve wanted the growth of this blog to be very organic and for it to be found by those who are genuinely interested in the topics. So far that’s worked well for me.
What is the @liketoknowit stuff you’re always posting and how does it work?
Reward Style allows me to link all of the items I wear, want and suggest for you all with the ability to get the details directly to your email. It’s ideal for bloggers, since we get so many questions about where things are from and makes it easy for you to get the information you need about our products without even having to ask. Once you sign up here, every time you “like” a photo linked with liketoknowit you receive all of the linked products in an email.
Thank you for the questions! As always, you can shoot questions my way via Instagram or email at thebwerdblog@gmail.com. Have a good weekend! xx
The fact that you started this blog less than a year ago and have such a huge following and great feedback and consistent readers is inspiration. I like how you said you want organic readers and only use two social sites. I too strive for the organic readers and subscribers. Great post
Thank you Jasminne! As long as you keep being your authentic self you will attract the right audience. I appreciate your feedback! xx
I started following your blog midsummer and I must say its one of the best that I follow! I’m excited to read your post every time I get an email. I love your style and writing! Keep up the good work!
Shacarra, that means so much to me. Thank you for the compliments! If there’s ever anything you want me to touch on, just let me know. xx
Of course! Love your style and I’m currently intrigued by finding “classic pieces” as a plus size lovie it can be often difficult and pricey, but I’m collecting tips for budgeting and mimicking different items you’ve mentioned on your blog! Thanks for the response!
