There’s a new waxer in town… and I’m so glad I gave them a try! I’ve waxed pretty much every part of my body; legs, armpits, upper lip – you name it. But, I’m the only person that I know who has never had their eyebrows waxed, so when they opened a brand new Waxing The City near my house I was tempted to give them a try. I’d been threading my eyebrows since I was about 14 because I was under the impression that it was more concise and less painful. My vision of waxed eyebrows included getting serviced in a nail salon by someone with very little eyebrow expertise, so I always avoided it. What I know for sure is that when waxing is done consistently, hair grows back slower, finer, and sparser, giving you better long-term results. Some even say they no longer have hair growth in the areas they’ve waxed – so why not try it on my eyebrows?
My first impression of the Waxing The City studio was a pleasant one. It was clean, organized and decorated so cute! When I arrived for my appointment I was asked to fill out a new client form, where they asked some really great questions that I’d never experienced at any other wax salon. They asked if I was prone to in-growns, scarring, or any other sort of skin sensitivities, which is really important information that will determine how they treat your skin. My waxer, Lily, met me in the lobby and walked me back to a room where she asked me what I wanted to achieve with my eyebrow waxing that day.
I’d been growing my brows out for months and knew I didn’t want them any thinner, so just a clean shape without losing any of the pieces I was still hoping would grow in. She applied the first strip of wax and removed it, and essentially… it was painless. She trimmed and tweezed my brows, then filled them in using their “Brows that Wow” eyebrow pencil and highlighter, which was perfect since I still had a day of activities planned.
