The photos that we took to announce that we were expecting Baby Agbo have to be my favorite photos that Nate and I have ever taken together. Well before I was pregnant or even trying for a baby, I had visions that we’d take these fun photos in a kitchen when our time came and have the theme of our announcement be “Made With Love”. I loved that it wasn’t anything I’d seen before (because Aquarius’ hate to do things that have already been done) and knew it would be true for us when our time came.
Once we were finally pregnant, I was set on bringing the idea to life. I had to organize all the details within just a few weeks and decided to start with location. You would be so surprised how quickly the weeks between finding out that you’re expecting and being able to announce will sneak up on you!
I knew I didn’t want to shoot in my own kitchen, since I’ve used it so many times before for campaigns and other photos. I wanted the space to be unique, charming and cozy. I found 1348 Heights, a stunning historic property on PeerSpace and quickly secured it for the photos. It was perfect!
Once I’d determined exactly where we’d be taking these photos, I had to figure out what we’d wear – which is usually the most complex part of scheduling our photos. Knowing that I wanted these photos taken in a bright white kitchen, I always saw us wearing white and denim, but decided on overalls two weeks before the shoot. I ordered so many pair from Amazon because my bump was quickly growing and I wasn’t sure what was going to fit the week of but went with these, along with a white Calvin Klein bralette. I booked the one and only Tonia for my makeup, and Megan for this sleek half up half down style.
The vision I also had for these photos were bright, crisp and airy photos and no one does those better than Rachel Taylor, a photographer here in Houston I had the pleasure of meeting for a wedding shoot Nate and I were apart of. I told her our news shortly after Nate knew because I didn’t want to risk her being booked. Luckily, she excitedly agreed to photograph us.
Rachel could not have done a better job of easily capturing our love and joy! Not to mention, I forgot cookie dough and she ran out to grab it for me! She knocked out the photos and was so sweet to take Reel footage for me, in less than an hour.
The pictures came out even better than I’d imagined them in my head and we will cherish them for life. If you’re looking for a photographer to capture any special moments for you, I highly recommend RaeTay Photography!
