We’ve been married two weeks! I feel so freed to have our wedding behind us. It was a day we’ll be on a high because of for quite a while, but I’m genuinely enjoying being able to catch my breath. I’m sleeping well at night, I’m spending my evenings differently. There is a significant difference in how our days feel! Everything that pertained to leading up to our wedding has exceeded everything that I’ve expected and hoped for. My bridal shower was no different. I knew absolutely no details prior to me showing up and I’m really beginning to prefer things that way. My sister and bridesmaids have truly outdone everything leading up to our wedding and I owe them, BIG TIME. I keep telling them that when it’s their time I’ll have to repay them because they’ve given me much more than I could’ve hoped for.
So glad we didn’t have a cake. Cakes take too much time to cut and hand out and often go to waste. These tiny treats were the perfect size for guests to grab and go. And they were all so delicious! The lemon tarts and truffle bars were made by @crisycupcakes and the chocolate covered strawberries and oreos (my personal favorites!) were by @marssweets_plutotreats. If you’re in the Houston area I highly recommend using them.
I know it seems like we’ve had 20 parties leading up to our marriage but they keep getting better and better. I’d be okay with 10 more. I’m not sure how we manage to turn every event into the most fun we’ve ever had, but it happens every single time. The women who planned this party showed up and showed out. I’ve never been to a bridal shower, so I had no suggestions, preferences or requirements. There was no theme, or color scheme. I told my sister I truly did not care, but in true Christian fashion she put on a classic and detailed good time. This wasn’t your typical bridal shower. It wasn’t in the daytime, we took a ton of celebratory shots, we had a DJ, we only played one game, and the prize was of course a dressed up bottle of alcohol. We also catered food by our good friend Elmo, because one of my pet peeves is finger foods at parties. I always want to serve something you can eat with a fork. Especially if we’re going to be drinking. He makes a cajun pasta that I’ve been eating for years that gets better every time.
The invites included my family, friends, as well as Nate’s family and girl friends (he has so many!). There was no age limit or count restrictions. The love that has surrounded us for all of our wedding events has blown us away. Nate has friends from elementary that he’s still so close to, so it’s been so special to have them around to celebrate with us.
What’s made these celebrations so special to me is being able to share these moments with my very best friends. My friendships and sisterhood have become so much more sentimental since becoming engaged. It’s been beautiful to witness these women be so happy for me that they cry. They go out of their way to support me, entertain me, and make sure I know how much they care for me. These women are PRICELESS and I would not have had the memories I do without them.
Nate ended up showing up towards the end of the shower while I was telling a story on how we met. I had no clue he had snuck in so of course I was running my mouth! LOL Of course he had to tell his side of the story which is completely different than mine. I adore that Nate loves my friends and family like I do, which means it’s never an issue to have him around them.
At least 100 of you asked about my bridal shower dress and I’ve been patiently waiting for it to be back in stock, but no luck. Here are some other gorgeous options to be sure you make a statement on your day –
