I’ve always adored the idea of being a city girl. That probably stemmed from watching too many episodes of Sex And The City, where women daintily walked blocks in high fashion and high heels without breaking a sweat or an ankle. Houston is a huge city, but we don’t operate that way. We drive everywhere, have to sit in traffic to get downtown and can’t maintain our cute for very long while outdoors in 100+ degree weather; which is why when my friend Angela suggested we do dinner downtown I was down for the cause. You drive, park and get to enjoy real city life for a few hours before heading back home.
I purchased this long-line tuxedo vest in the winter based off of it’s versatility alone, but always knew I’d wear it as it’s own item. I’ve worn it open on top of denim and to work with a pencil skirt, but never buttoned as a dress. I’m aware you can’t see them (which was kind of my point) but, I wouldn’t have felt comfortable without a bodysuit and pair of denim underneath. I could’ve easily worn this look with the vest unbuttoned and open toed heels for a more casual look.
I found this Zac Posen bag at Saks on major sale so I didn’t hesitate to buy it. It has a creamy leather exterior that looks luxurious, but isn’t so expensive that you don’t want to carry it everyday. They had almost a dozen colors to choose from and still have quite a few in stock.
