Unboxing: Beneath Your Mask Beauty

Beneath Your Mask is a skin, body, and hair rejuvenation line designed to restore, repair, and reverse the toxic effects of environmental hazards, health challenges, stress, and the damage done from countless other unforgiving aspects of our lifestyles. Dana, the owner and creator of Beneath Your Mask carefully crafted these products to help in her own healing after overcoming an aggressive battle with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus. In search of products that would help repair the damage done to her skin from the Lupus, excessive weight gain and loss, as well as chemotherapy, she decided to create her own. Too many of the products she was finding in stores contained harsh chemicals, synthetic fragrances and damaging toxins that our immune system has to work overtime to detoxify. At last, Beneath Your Mask was born and has been in rotation as several of my favorite products.

I’m without a doubt one of those people who gets excited when I receive packages in the mail, so when I received this sleek little Beneath Your Mask box I was automatically intrigued. Have you ever received something so nicely put together you didn’t want to open it? That was this box for me. As soon as I did, I was greeted with a hand-written note from Dana which put a personal touch on the delivery. All of my products were in place and boxed beautifully. There was thought out detail of every aspect, from the product packaging to the tissue paper.

The box contained “Polish“, a detoxifying body scrub, “Nourish” hair serum and “Indulge” total body elixir. It also had a sample of “Illuminate”, a clarifying face mask set to launch in August for me to try. What I love most about Beneath Your Mask products is that none of your body is off limits. All products, although having different purposes, are meant to be used on your face, skin or hair. I preach the value of versatility in every aspect, because nothing is more annoying than needing 15 different beauty products to take care of different things. These products are able to take care of every aspect, from moisturizing and anti-aging to fine lines and stretch marks. Each of these products are high quality, incredibly potent, non-toxic, all natural, organic, vegan* products that you don’t have to worry about your body reacting negatively to.

Any product you order is packaged in dark violet Miron glass that activates the formulas and is unsurpassed in preserving the life of products. I’ve interchanged “Polish” body scrub for a face and head scrub to exfoliate my skin and scalp. I also use “Nourish” nightly mixed with my favorite overnight moisturizer on my face. I also deep condition with “Nourish”, and use “Heal” whipped skin souffle on the dry areas of my scalp to really reduce any flaking. “Heal” is ideal for everyday total body use with a few drops of “Induldge” total body elixer. It begins as a solid and melts into my skin giving me all day hydration. Containing many essential oils, there’s no greasy residue. My skin literally gulps these products up and locks the moisture in.

The sample of the “Illuminate” mask Dana sent is said to be a revitalizing blend of detoxifying clays, superfoods and pure plant botanicals formulated to clear complexion, minimize the appearance of pores, brighten and soften skin, increase cell turnover, and promote healthy, glowing skin. It can be activated with water, apple cider vinegar or honey; I chose local and organic honey with a few drops of ACV to really help it penetrate.

Specific ingredients used in the mask combine to hydrate skin, soothe rashes and skin irritations, increase collagen production and cell rejuvenation, heal blemishes and acne scars, reduce hyperpigmentation, promote skin elasticity, and protect skin against damaging free radicals. The mask was so effective I had to use it twice to make sure I wasn’t fooling myself.

I layered the mask twice and left it on for about an hour. I rinsed it off with warm water and moisturized with my usual night cream with added “Nourish” and “Indulge”. When I woke up in the morning my skin was visibly brighter, smoother and more even. I had pretty obvious redness underneath my makeup, which was nearly nonexistent. Overnight, it reduced the visible inflammation, balanced my oily skin, shrunk my blemishes significantly and even lightened my acne marks.

It’s easy for me to say I love Beneath Your Mask products for the based solely off of packaging, delivery and ingredients; but more importantly it’s apparent my skin loves them more.
