5 Reasons Why I’m Going with Rental Furniture

We hear about things like Rent-A-Center and even Rent-a-Tire, but I didn’t realize that furniture rental was a thing until I was a leasing agent at a high-end apartment property during my last few years of undergrad. I know I’m not the only one. Being in a brand new home, with only a few necessities and pieces of furniture, I’ve got A LOT of space to fill. While it all sounds and looks good in my head and on my Pinterest board, I know from experience it doesn’t always come together the way I envision it. I don’t know about you, but after buying the house and still having two weddings to fund, I don’t have a full decorating budget that will allow me to furnish my house at all once. It can easily take years to bring your whole house together and with wedding expenses rolling in until next March, I honestly don’t feel comfortable splurging too heavily on home decor. Instead of buying piece after piece of furniture, renting allows me to furnish a room entirely without having to prolong my next purchase. I can select a bed, dresser, and bedding all in one sitting.

3) I CAN CHANGE MY MIND

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve purchased something on a whim, only to find a better fit a few months later. That feeling of having to stick with something because I purchased it even though I found something that I love more is THE WORST! The freedom of knowing that if at any time I can decide on a different item that’s more comfortable, more appealing or more expensive, it’s not a problem.

4) GET RID OF IT GUILT FREE

This is probably my newest and most important reason behind choosing rental furniture. Nate and I had to mesh all of our belongings, his mostly being brown, mine mostly being black – which wasn’t the prettiest mix. Moving into our home, there were flat out things that just could not stay but we had such a hard time parting with them because we’d paid for them. Selling it wasn’t convenient, so it either ended up going to anyone who could take it for free or just into the trash. Now that I know what I’m needing for our home, I have to be extra considerate since it’s not just my home and it’s not just my money. With Nate in the equation, he expects me to make well, thought out decisions in regards to what I’m purchasing for our home. To be quite frank, if I paid for something and ended up not wanting it, I better have a great explanation LOL. With rental furniture, I won’t have this problem. I’ll be able to make sure I love it, or if I want to do something different before it’s time is up.

5) STRESS FREE DELIVERY

I found a piece of art a couple of weekends ago that I was so excited about, I purchased it without even considering how I’d get it home. If I can’t fit a painting into my car, how can I get home a dining table, or decorative chair? Ultimately that means, a ton of delivery fees.
