“If you look good, you feel good. If you feel good, you play good. If you play good, they pay good.” – Deion Sanders
As cliche as it sounds, first impressions are everything; and while looks are not, I’m a firm believer of getting dressed. I really don’t care how early it is or how long the day is going to be, I’m going to take time out to put myself together before I leave the house. When I pass women on my way to the office who are putting on lipstick in their vanity mirrors, I assume they’re gonna have a good day. They’ve already figured out that feeling good about how they look is the most important part of their persona.
I work in a male dominated industry, so it’s important for me to dress appropriately. I’ve collected pieces that make me feel like a woman, but one who’s confident speaking up in a room full of men. I probably wear black to work 4 days out of 5, so when my friend Monica gifted me with this blush H&M blazer she was either hinting that I’ve exhausted black [which couldn’t have possibly been the case] or that she knew it would make a unique addition to my wardrobe. The peplum detail on this River Island dress is significant enough to compliment my shape, but not over-exaggerated to where it would clash with any other details. The best part about it? It easily transitions from professional to play after 5 p.m.
